Nick was born in Rosemont, Illinois on December 22, 1984, where he
was also raised. Active in school plays at a very young
age, it wasn’t too long until he shot his first film. At
the age of thirteen, he wrote, directed and starred in
what would be his first attempt at making a movie. He
used his father’s camcorder and edited on a VCR. A
couple years later, with no budget and in true guerilla
style with the help of family and friends, Nick
completed his first short film, “Takedown.” The film
tells the story of two lifelong friends that are
undercover cops. They infiltrate the Chicago Mob, and
before they realize it, one of them begins to get more
involved than he should. “Takedown” garnered many awards
at various high school film festivals, and got Nick a
scholarship to Columbia College Chicago, where he
graduated in 2007. While at Columbia, Nick directed many
short films, most notably “Hope” which won him an award
at the Boston Film Festival. Nick has also directed and
edited music videos for various local artists here in
Chicago. In 2006 he re-shot a 90-minute version of
“Takedown,” in hope to receive financing for a big
budget version that he hopes to one day make.
He then began
work on This
Town. his biggest goal with the production
was to make a movie that spoke to people he grew up
around. He wanted to portray the people and environment
of This
Town in a real and authentic way. Nick was
accustomed to working mostly on his own, so
collaborating with a group of passionate people was
something he also looked forward to.
Currently Nick
is entering pre-production on a film he wrote called Angie.
Nick says his father’s encouragement and belief in him
is what provides him his drive. Nick is also working on
Mike North's new music Video Caucasianman due out in
Sept 2010
